As half term approaches, we have certainly made sure we have fitted a lot in during this final week.

Our year 11 students have had a busy week – a lot have participated in their Geography fieldtrips this week, began their revision patterns by attending study café which launched this week and our year 11 football team ended this half term by winning their football match 4-0 against Marine Academy.

The Lipson Big Band have once again secured a place performing at the fabulous Buckland Abbey Christmas Fair.  Rehearsals are well underway, this is a great opportunity to listen to excellent Christmas music and get in the festivities started.

Students have completed their first exciting half term at Lipson, they have all settled in well and are enjoying their Lipson experience. The year 7 rugby team won an impressive 2 matches last Thursday, clearly enjoying participating in all the enrichment activities after school.

It is always great to hear about students’ hobbies and interests outside and inside of school. This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Arjun Shrestha who told me about his most recent swimming events over the last 2 weekends.  Arjun got a Bronze medal on his 1500 m Freestyle race, gold on 200 butterfly and a gold medal on the 400m. He also achieved a Bronze medal on 400m Freestyle and bronze on the 100 fly.  What an amazing achievement for Arjun and I look forward to hearing more about his swimming events in the future.

Arjun’s mum brought in an amazing cake for Diwali and some posters that Arjun had made to explain Diwali to us all, such a kind and interesting gesture.

When we return back after half term, we will be launching a new behaviour policy. It won’t be instantly implemented but will go through a pilot period beginning on 6th November. During the first week back, we will be holding a series of assemblies to fully brief students and parents will be invited to a series of drop in sessions throughout our pilot period to ensure it can be properly embedded. We will ensure we post details of these drop ins on our social media pages and in the Lipson Weekly News.

All that is left to say is have a lovely half term and I look forward to welcoming everyone back to the new term.
