Many people think schools close over the school holidays but at Lipson, the Easter holidays were full of activities. During the Easter holidays, students in years 11, 12 and 13 took the opportunity to attend revision sessions as part of their preparation to examinations. Commitment from teachers to run these sessions supporting our students is always second to none.

Our community staff ran a holiday club for younger years providing an action packed experience for those students who attended.

Exam season is fast approaching and the first Year 11 exam is 2 weeks away. The need for organisation, revision and focus for our Year 11s has never been so important. Study cafe continues to run daily after school with departments running targeted revision sessions in the lead up to examinations.

The long awaited year 11 football cup final took place this week. Postponed from before the Easter holidays, our year 11 football team were eager to show off their training and skills to secure a win of 4-2 against their opponents Devonport High School for Boys. A highly competitive match leading to extra time showed the real qualities of our team - commitment, perseverance, solidarity and teamwork. PE teacher Craig Swiggs has coached the team this year leading them to this fantastic result.  He has shown true leadership guiding the students through the high and low moments of the season and teaching them true sportsmanship on and off the pitch. A really well deserved end to the season.

A busy term lies ahead for the PE team as they prepare for our athletics final day and our first dedicated sports award evening.

It was good to meet with parents this week to discuss our recent Ofsted report and the plans moving forward. Ofsted confirmed exactly what we knew – we know our strengths and we know the areas for development. Ofsted praised this in their report and saw real improvements underway and it was good to discuss our plans with those parents who came to the meetings. We have further upcoming opportunities for parents to be involved through our parent forum- dates and agenda will be made available to all parents.
