Community Engagement

AGE UK

For the last 4 years, Year 12 students have had the opportunity to volunteer at Age UK Plymouth at the Mount Gold Centre. Once they have applied they are then interviewed before taking part in a 6 week placement, where they help the guests in a variety of meaningful and stimulating activities having a positive impact on their physical and mental wellbeing. Additionally, there is a Dementia Day Centre for those in the local community with memory loss and dementia, again they experience meaningful, varied and personalised activities.

These centres can be a lifeline for many, keeping loneliness and boredom at bay. Our students find this experience incredibly rewarding as well as benefiting them with improving their transferable skills for working life such as communication, teamwork, adaptability and time management.

We would like to thank Age UK Plymouth for this valuable experience.   https://www.ageuk.org.uk/plymouth/

STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM

Our student Leadership Team has always organised fund Raising Events. Last year the highlights were a Christmas Mufti Day for Age UK, and then following a PSHE session about Testicular Cancer, a staff Football Match was arranged, being a highlight for many students and staff. This event raised nearly £200 for https://itsinthebag.org.uk/

LIPSON LARDER

Additionally, we have Sixth Formers volunteering each Wednesday after school for the Lipson Larder, a community food initiative which provides free food to anyone in the local area.

ACADEMIC YEAR, SEPTEMBER 2025 - JULY 2026

This academic Year we have challenged each Year 12 Tutor group to choose a local charity and create a school fundraiser, all of which is organised by the tutees.

Miss Casanove

12ECE chose Plymouth Domestic Abuse Service and raised over £285.00, with a variety of Halloween themed activities, with pie the teacher and trick or treat being the most popular.

Miss Price

12MPE chose Shekinah, and as well as raising money through a mufti day and a bake sale, they asked for donations of warm clothes, hats, gloves and toiletries. We are very proud to announce they raised over £500, as well as delivering 4 large bags of clothes and toiletries.
